Abstract
Systems and methods are disclosed to control transition of a stimulation circuit configured to generate first and second stimulation signals in different respective first and second stimulation modes between the different respective first and second stimulation modes using a patient metric determined using received physiologic information of the patient including at least one of thoracic impedance information or respiration information from a first time period.
Claims20
A medical device system, comprising:
- a stimulation circuit configured to generate first and second stimulation signals in different respective first and second stimulation modes, the first stimulation mode comprising cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) mode and the second stimulation mode comprising a multi-site pacing (MSP) mode, the first and second stimulation signals configured to be provided to a heart of a patient;
- a signal receiver circuit configured to receive physiologic information of the patient, including thoracic impedance information and respiration information, the thoracic impedance information including intrathoracic impedance (ITTI) information and the respiration information including rapid shallow breathing index (RSBI) information;
- and
- an assessment circuit configured to control transition of the stimulation circuit between the first and second stimulation modes, including to:
- determine, using physiologic information from a first time period when the stimulation circuit is in the first stimulation mode, a patient metric as a function of the ITTI information and the RSBI information indicative that the patient will respond to the second stimulation mode before the second stimulation mode is implemented;
- and
- control transition of the stimulation circuit from the first stimulation mode to the second stimulation mode based on the determined patient metric.

A method comprising:
- generating, using a stimulation circuit, first and second stimulation signals in different respective first and second stimulation modes, the first stimulation mode comprising cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) mode and the second stimulation mode comprising a multi-site pacing (MSP) mode, the first and second stimulation signals configured to be provided to a heart of a patient;
- receiving, using a signal receiver circuit, physiologic information of the patient, including thoracic impedance information and respiration information, the thoracic impedance information including intrathoracic impedance (ITTI) information and the respiration information including rapid shallow breathing index (RSBI) information;
- and
- controlling, using an assessment circuit, transition of the stimulation circuit between the first and second stimulation modes, including:
- determining a patient metric indicative that the patient will respond to the second stimulation mode as a function of the ITTI information and the RSBI information from a first time period before the second stimulation mode is implemented;
- and
- controlling transition of the stimulation circuit from the first stimulation mode to the second stimulation mode based on the determined patient metric.

- and
- control transition of the stimulation circuit from the second stimulation mode to the first stimulation mode based on the determined patient metric.
