Magnet removal and replacement apparatus and methods for use with cochlear implants

A magnet apparatus for use with an implantable medical device, the magnet apparatus comprising:

• a case including a top surface, a bottom surface and a cylindrical side surface located between the top surface and the bottom surface;
• a projection, located between the top surface and the bottom surface, that projects outwardly from the cylindrical side surface and is configured to interconnect with a portion of the implantable medical device;
• at least one magnetic element within the case that is rotatable relative to the case;
• a stiff strap, secured to the case, that includes an anchor aperture;
• and
• a bone anchor configured to extend through the anchor aperture of the stiff strap and anchor the case to bone.
