Abstract
A wearable article, comprising a treatment delivery system, the system having a pliable assembly of layers, including an absorbent layer or other receptacle layer having a surface for absorbing or containing a treatment agent and intended to orient against a wearer's skin (dermal embodiment) or outside of the article oriented towards the wearer's olfactory system (aromatherapy embodiment); a base layer for the wearable article; a barrier or other backing layer for selectively blocking the passage of the treatment agent, while preferably allowing skin moisture to pass through the backing layer disposed between the receptacle layer and the backing layer.
Claims25
A treatment delivery system for integration with a wearable article, the system including a pliable assembly of layers, comprising:
- a receptacle layer having a surface for containing a treatment agent and arranged to orient against the skin of an intended wearer or outside the wearable article, and wherein the treatment agent includes at least one of pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, homeopathic, herbal treatment agent;
- a coupled backing layer with a waterproof rating of at least 5,000 millimeters (mm) and a breathability score (RET) of 20 or less that allows less than 30% of the treatment agent to migrate through the backing layer;
- the delivery system being shaped and configured to correspond to and mimic a predetermined nervous system pathway of the intended wearer and to deliver the treatment agent to the intended wearer's skin along the pathway to provide a transdermal delivery and therapeutic effect;
- wherein the treatment delivery system includes a bonding section for bonding and integrating the treatment delivery system to a selected portion of the wearable article that maps to the predetermined nervous system pathway, and wherein the bonding section is disposed along at least one edge of the system and comprises an adhesive, chemical or thermal bonding material;
- and wherein the assembly of layers form a discrete element that is integratable with a base layer of the wearable article by the bonding section in a manner that the backing layer is disposed between the receptacle layer and the base layer.
A wearable article, comprising a plurality of discontinuous and discrete treatment delivery systems, each system including, a pliable assembly of layers, comprising:
- a receptacle layer having a surface for containing a treatment agent and arranged to orient against a wearer's skin or outside the article, and wherein the treatment agent includes at least one of pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, homeopathic, herbal treatment agents;
- a base layer;
- a backing layer with a waterproof rating of at least 5,000 millimeters (mm) and a breathability score (RET) of 20 or less that allows less than 30% of the treatment agent to migrate through the backing layer to the base layer, and wherein the each system is configured within a selected portion of the wearable article and shaped to correspond to and mimics a predetermined nervous system pathway of an intended wearer that is different from that of any other of the treatment systems, and wherein each system is configured to deliver the treatment agent to the intended wearer's skin along the predetermined nervous system pathway to provide a transdermal delivery and therapeutic effect.
The wearable article of 6, wherein the article comprises a garment.
