Abstract
Cosmetic and dermatological compositions, including color changing compositions, are provided which typically include a plurality of synthetic particles having a size in the micrometer or nanometer range. The cosmetic or dermatological formulation comprises an antioxidant or UV filter and xanthommatin pigment present in the formulation at a concentration of 0.01% wt to 0.5% wt to scavenge free radicals. The cosmetic or dermatological formulation can be a sun protectant composition having an SPF of 2-30.

A cosmetic or dermatological formulation comprising an antioxidant or UV filter and xanthommatin pigment, wherein the xanthommatin pigment is present in the formulation at a concentration of 0.01% wt to 0.5% wt to scavenge free-radicals, wherein the formulation has an SPF of 2-30.
A cosmetic or dermatological serum or cream comprising an antioxidant or UV filter, xanthommatin pigment present in the formulation at a concentration of 0.01% wt to 0.5% wt to scavenge free-radicals, and a colorant, the colorant comprising D&C Yellow #11, Red #17, FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Blue #2, RED #4, D&C Red #30, D&C Red #36, aluminum lake, zirconium lake or a combination thereof;
- wherein the formulation has an SPF of 2-30.
