Abstract
An electrophysiology catheter has an elongated catheter shaft and a distal assembly with a flex circuit and a support member on which the flex circuit is supported in a generally cylindrical form. The support member has a post extending longitudinally through the cylindrical form of the flex circuit which delivers irrigation fluid into the cylindrical form. The post can be configured to define multiple irrigation chambers within the distal assembly. One or more flow directors movable in the post selectively direct irrigation fluid within the distal assembly. Apertures in the flex circuit allow the irrigation fluid to exit to outside the distal assembly.
Claims19
A catheter comprising:
- an elongated shaft;
- and
- a distal assembly, including:
- a tip electrode with a proximal end configured with a first coupler;
- a support member with a longitudinal axis and a distal end, the distal end configured with a second coupler coupled to the first coupler, the support member including a distal member with a proximal circumferential edge defining a first radius, a proximal member with a distal circumferential edge defining a second radius, and a post extending longitudinally and connecting the distal member and the proximal member, the post defining a third radius generally equal to the first and second radii;
- a flex circuit circumferentially surrounding the support member;
- and
- at least one internal irrigation chamber between the support member and the flex circuit.
A catheter comprising:
- an elongated shaft;
- and
- a distal assembly, including:
- a support member defining a longitudinal axis, the support member configured with an irrigation channel extending along the longitudinal axis;
- and
- an outer flow director and an inner flow director concentrically arranged with each other and both configured for longitudinal movement within the irrigation channel relative to the support member, the outer flow director configured with first irrigation apertures and the inner flow director configured with an irrigation formation, the inner flow director configured for radial rotation relative to the outer flow director;
- and
- a flex circuit surrounding the support member circumferentially, the flex circuit configured with second irrigation apertures.
