Abstract
An electrode for an electrosurgical handheld instrument consists of an electrically conductive wire, the two ends of the wire being connectable to an electrode carrier of the handheld instrument. In this case, the wire has two portions R1 and L1, which are adjacent to the two ends of the wire and are aligned parallel to one another and rectilinearly. Two second portions R2 and L2 follow on from these two first portions R1 and L1, these two portions R2 and L2 being connected to one another by a portion C. This portion C in turn has a flattened portion CC.
Claims11
An electrode for an electrosurgical handheld instrument comprising:
- a wire including:
- a first proximal end and a second proximal end both being configured to connect to an electrode carrier of the electrosurgical handheld instrument;
- a first proximal portion being adjacent to the first proximal end and a second proximal portion being adjacent to the second proximal end, the first proximal portion being parallel and rectilinear to the second proximal portion;
- a first distal portion being adjacent to the first proximal portion and a second distal portion being adjacent to the second proximal portion, and the first distal portion and the second distal portion both being configured to be connected by a central portion;
- a flattened portion provided at the central portion, wherein:
- the first proximal portion, the second proximal portion, the first distal portion, and the second distal portion have a round or circular cross section;
- the flattened portion has a cross section with rounded corners, the flattened portion forming a continuous contour, the cross section being one of an oval, elliptical or rectangular shape;
- the cross section of the flattened portion having a height-to-width ratio from 1:1.5 to 1:4;
- and
- transitions between the round or circular cross section and the oval, elliptical, or rectangular cross section with rounded corners are made so smooth that radii of curvature are not formed at these transition points which are smaller than a smallest radius curvature of the central portion.
