Abstract

Disclosed are various techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a requesting entity, a request for information relating to a channel condition of the UE. The requesting entity may comprise a base station or a location server, for example. The UE may determine information relating to the channel condition of the UE. The UE may send, to the requesting entity, the information relating to the channel condition of the UE. In some aspects, the UE may receive location assistance data from the requesting entity along with a request to perform a location measurement; the UE may perform the location measurement and send location information to the requesting entity. The location information may comprise a location measurement result, the UE's estimate of its own location, or both.

Dependent claims

A method, performed at a network node, for user equipment (UE) positioning enhancements based on channel conditions, the method comprising:

sending, to a UE, a request to measure a channel condition of each of at least one frequency band or bandwidth part for sidelink communication with other UEs or for downlink communication with a serving base station (BS) other than those that the UE is currently using to access a serving base station (BS);
receiving, from the UE, a measured channel condition for each of the at least one frequency band or bandwidth part;
selecting, based on the measured channel condition for each of the at least one frequency band or bandwidth part, at least one frequency band or bandwidth part for use by the UE for positioning measurements;
and
sending, to the UE, location assistance data identifying the at least one frequency band or bandwidth part for use by the UE for positioning measurements.

one or more memories;
one or more transceivers;
and
one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories and the one or more transceivers, the one or more processors, either alone or in combination, configured to:
send, to a UE, a request to measure a channel condition of each of at least one frequency band or bandwidth part for sidelink communication with other UEs or for downlink communication with a serving base station (BS) other than those that the UE is currently using to access a serving base station (BS);
receive, from the UE, a measured channel condition for each of the at least one frequency band or bandwidth part;
select, based on the measured channel condition for each of the at least one frequency band or bandwidth part, at least one frequency band or bandwidth part for use by the UE for positioning measurements;
and
send, to the UE, location assistance data identifying the at least one frequency band or bandwidth part for use by the UE for positioning measurements.
