Abstract
Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for modifying a radio capability. One apparatus includes a memory coupled to a processor that causes the apparatus to receive—from a UE—a first message indicating an updated radio access capability, to delete a radio access capability associated with the UE based at least in part on the received first message, to transmit—to a network entity—a second message excluding the radio access capability associated with the UE, and to receive—from the network entity—a third message indicating a new radio access capability associated with the UE.
Claims14
An access and mobility management function (“AMF”) for wireless communication, comprising:
- at least one memory;
- and
- at least one processor coupled to the at least one memory and configured to cause the AMF to:
- receive a registration request message indicating an updated radio access capability associated with a user equipment (“UE”), wherein the registration request message is received from the UE in an idle state, and wherein the AMF triggers the UE to transition from a connected state or an inactive state to the idle state prior to receipt of the registration request message;
- delete a radio access capability associated with the UE based at least in part on the received registration request message;
- transmit, to a base station, a second message excluding the radio access capability associated with the UE;
- initiate an Access Stratum (“AS”) procedure to request an AS capability from the UE;
- receive, from the base station and in response to the AS procedure, a third message indicating a new radio access capability associated with the UE;
- and
- transmit, to the UE, a registration accept message comprising a cause value that indicates acceptance of the new radio access capability.
A method performed by an access and mobility management function (“AMF”), the method comprising:
- receiving, from a user equipment (“UE”), a registration request message indicating an updated radio access capability associated with the UE, wherein the registration request message is received from the UE in an idle state, and wherein the AMF triggers the UE to transition from a connected state or an inactive state to the idle state prior to receipt of the registration request message;
- deleting a radio access capability associated with the UE based at least in part on the received registration request message;
- transmitting, to a base station, a second message excluding the radio access capability associated with the UE;
- initiating an Access Stratum (“AS”) procedure to request an AS capability from the UE;
- receiving, from the base station and in response to the AS procedure, a third message indicating a new radio access capability associated with the UE;
- and
- transmitting, to the UE, a registration accept message comprising a cause value that indicates acceptance of the new radio access capability.
