Abstract
Methods and devices for Multicast/Broadcast Service (MBS)-related operations are provided. The method includes receiving a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message from a Base Station (BS), the RRC release message including a suspending configuration indicating that the UE is allowed to receive, in an RRC_INACTIVE state, data of an MBS Radio Bearer (MRB) associated with a multicast session; transitioning to the RRC_INACITVE state in response to receiving the RRC release message; and receiving the data of the MRB after transitioning to the RRC_INACTIVE state.
Claims12
A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for Multicast/Broadcast Service (MBS)-related operations, the method comprising:
- receiving a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message from a Base Station (BS), the RRC release message comprising a suspending configuration indicating that the UE is allowed to receive, in an RRC_INACTIVE state, data of an MBS Radio Bearer (MRB) associated with a multicast session;
- transitioning to the RRC_INACTIVE state in response to receiving the RRC release message;
- and
- upon transitioning to the RRC_INACTIVE state, refraining from initiating reception of the data of the MRB in the RRC_INACTIVE state, in spite of the suspending configuration indicating that the UE is allowed to receive the data of the MRB in the RRC_INACTIVE state, until receiving activation signaling, via a paging message, from the BS, the activation signaling indicating activation of the multicast session associated with the MRB;
- and
- initiating the reception of the data of the MRB in the RRC_INACTIVE state after receiving the activation signaling.
A User Equipment (UE) for Multicast/Broadcast Service (MBS)-related operations, the UE comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor, the at least one memory storing one or more computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the UE to:
- receive a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message from a Base Station (BS), the RRC release message comprising a suspending configuration indicating that the UE is allowed to receive, in an RRC_INACTIVE state, data of an MBS Radio Bearer (MRB) associated with a multicast session;
- transition to the RRC_INACTIVE state in response to receiving the RRC release message;
- and
- upon transitioning to the RRC_INACTIVE state, refrain from initiating reception of the data of the MRB in the RRC_INACTIVE state, in spite of the suspending configuration indicating that the UE is allowed to receive the data of the MRB in the RRC_INACTIVE state, until receiving activation signaling, via a paging message, from the BS, the activation signaling indicating activation of the multicast session associated with the MRB;
- and
- initiate the reception of the data of the MRB in the RRC_INACTIVE state after receiving the activation signaling.
