Dynamic splice point adjustment for video signals

A system comprising:

• a signal processing engine;
• and
• a splice point controller in communication with the signal processing engine and configured to:
• analyze a video signal input to a splicer;
• identify a splice point from the input video signal;
• extract an adjustment value associated with the splice point from the input video signal;
• identify a frame in the input video signal that corresponds with the extracted adjustment value;
• determine whether the identified frame is accurate;
• in response to determining that the identified frame is not accurate:
• identify a nearest frame, relative to the identified frame, that is an accurate frame for a secondary content boundary;
• determine a time difference between the nearest frame and the identified frame;
• and
• provide the time difference to a signal processing engine as a first offset value.

A server machine, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• memory that includes instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
• analyze a video signal input to a splicer;
• identify a splice point from the input video signal;
• extract an adjustment value associated with the splice point from the input video signal;
• identify a frame in the input video signal that corresponds with the extracted adjustment value;
• determine whether the identified frame is accurate;
• in response to determining that the identified frame is not accurate:
• identify a nearest frame, relative to the identified frame, that is an accurate frame for a secondary content boundary;
• determine a time difference between the accurate frame and the identified frame;
• and
• provide the time difference to a signal processing engine as a first offset value.
