Abstract
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet based on image data, a control unit configured to control driving of the image forming unit, and a power supply unit configured to, if a factor for shifting from a power saving state to a standby state is detected, supply power to the image forming unit and the control unit. If a first type of factor is detected as the factor in the power saving state, the power supply unit supplies power to the control unit and the image forming unit, and the control unit restricts the driving of the image forming unit. If an instruction to perform a function of forming an image on a sheet is accepted, the control unit cancels restriction of the driving of the image forming unit.
Claims13
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a printer unit configured to print on a sheet;
- a motor configured to drive a predetermined part of the printer unit;
- a touch panel configured to display and configured to receive an operation from a user;
- a human sensor configured to sense a human without contacting the human;
- and
- a controller including a processor and a memory, the controller configured to:
- in response to the human sensor sensing the human, change a state of the touch panel from a first state to a second state without driving the motor;
- in response to the touch panel receiving selection of an object for a copy function from the user thereon in a state where (a) the touch panel continues to display since the state of the touch panel has been changed to the second state in response to the human sensor sensing the human and (b) the motor has not been driven, drive the motor without causing the printer unit to print on the sheet;
- if the touch panel receives selection of another object for a facsimile function from the user thereon in a state where (a) the touch panel continues to display since the state of the touch panel has been changed to the second state in response to the human sensor sensing the human and (b) the motor has not been driven, continue not to drive the motor;
- and
- based on an operation to start printing received from the user in a state where the motor has been driven in response to the selection of the object for the copy function received, cause the printer unit to print on the sheet.
A method of controlling an image forming apparatus including
- a printer unit configured to print on a sheet,
- a motor configured to drive a predetermined part of the printer unit,
- a touch panel configured to display and configured to receive an operation from a user, and
- a human sensor configured to sense a human without contacting the human,
- the method comprising:
- in response to the human sensor sensing the human, change a state of the touch panel from a first state to a second state without driving the motor;
- in response to the touch panel receiving selection of an object for a copy function from the user thereon in a state where (a) the touch panel continues to display since the state of the touch panel has been changed to the second state in response to human sensor sensing the human and (b) the motor has not been driven, drive the motor without causing the printer unit to print on the sheet;
- if the touch panel receives selection of another object for a facsimile function from the user thereon in a state where (a) the touch panel continues to display since the state of the touch panel has been changed to the second state in response to the human sensor sensing the human and (b) the motor has not been driven, continue not to drive the motor;
- and
- based on an operation to start printing received from the user in a state where the motor has been driven in response to the selection of the object for the copy function received, cause the printer unit to print on the sheet.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a processor to execute a method of controlling an image forming apparatus including
- a printer unit configured to print on a sheet,
- a motor configured to drive a predetermined part of the printer unit,
- a touch panel configured to display and configured to receive an operation from a user, and
- a human sensor configured to sense a human without contacting the human,
- the method comprising:
- in response to the human sensor sensing the human, change a state of the touch panel from a first state to a second state without driving the motor;
- in response to the touch panel receiving selection of an object for a copy function from the user thereon in a state where (a) the touch panel continues to display since the state of the touch panel has been changed to the second state in response to human sensor sensing the human and (b) the motor has not been driven, drive the motor without causing the printer unit to print on the sheet;
- if the touch panel receives selection of another object for a facsimile function from the user thereon in a state where (a) the touch panel continues to display since the state of the touch panel has been changed to the second state in response to the human sensor sensing the human and (b) the motor has not been driven, continue not to drive the motor;
- and
- based on an operation to start printing received from the user in a state where the motor has been driven in response to the selection of the object for the copy function received, cause the printer unit to print on the sheet.
