Abstract
A computing device may communicate with an access point. Data may be communicated using a format such as a physical layer protocol data unit. Different data formats may be used on different frequency bands. A data format may be modified to include one or more additional fields for use with a plurality of frequency bands.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- encapsulating data in a message configured for transmission via one of a first protocol using a first frequency band and a second protocol using a second frequency band, wherein the message comprises:
- a first field associated with the first frequency band;
- a second field associated with the second frequency band;
- and
- a third field comprising the encapsulated data;
- and
- selecting, among the first protocol and the second protocol, a protocol and a corresponding frequency band to be used for transmission of the message;
- and
- transmitting the message using the selected protocol via the corresponding frequency band.
6 more elements
A method comprising:
- encoding a medium access control protocol data unit (MPDU) using a codeword to obtain a physical layer service data unit (PSDU);
- and
- encapsulating the PSDU into a data field of a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU), wherein the PPDU comprises:
- a universal signal field (U-SIG),
- an ultra-high reliability signal field (UHR-SIG), and
- the data field;
- and
- transmitting the PPDU.
5 more elements
A method comprising:
- selecting, among a first protocol corresponding to a first frequency band and a second protocol corresponding to a second frequency band, a protocol and a corresponding frequency band to be used for reception of a message;
- receiving the message using the selected protocol via the corresponding frequency band;
- extracting data from the message, wherein the message comprises:
- a first field associated with the first frequency band;
- a second field associated with the second frequency band;
- and
- a third field comprising encapsulated data.
