A nonaqueous electrolyte battery comprising an electrode group that includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator, wherein

• the separator includes a plurality of discrete portions, the discrete portions being provided on a surface of the separator in contact with the negative electrode, the discrete portions containing at least one selected from a group consisting of a metal containing a metal element, a metallic oxide containing the metal element, and a metallic fluoride containing the metal element, and
• an area of each of the discrete portions is 0.3 mm2 or larger and 3.2 mm2 or smaller,
• the separator includes a region between the positive electrode and the negative electrode,
• within the region, an outermost layer is positioned outermost in the electrode group, and
• a number of the discrete portions per unit area in the outermost layer is 200 per square meter or more and 1290 per square meter or less.
