Roadside device

A roadside device comprising:

• a camera configured to capture an image of a surrounding environment;
• a sensor configured to acquire GPS information;
• a battery;
• a notification unit including at least one of an electronic bulletin board, a liquid crystal display, a speaker, and a lamp;
• a communication unit including a communication interface;
• and
• a control unit configured to
• determine a failure state of the roadside device, and
• cause the notification unit to notify a notification target person of the determined failure state according to the determined failure state of the roadside device, wherein:
• the failure state includes at least one of a stopped state, a restarting state, a low battery state, a communication failure state, a component failure state, and a displaced state;
• the stopped state is a state in which the roadside device has ceased to operate;
• the restarting state is a state in which the roadside device is being restarted;
• the low battery state is a state in which a remaining amount of charge of the battery has fallen below a predetermined threshold value;
• the communication failure state is a state in which a communication failure between the roadside device and an information processing device occurs or a state in which a communication failure between the roadside device and a vehicle occurs;
• the component failure state is a state in which a component of the roadside device has failed;
• and
• the displaced state is a state in which an arrangement of the roadside device is displaced from a reference position.
