Data privacy and security in smart devices

A system, comprising:

• a user computing device;
• and
• at least one application executable by the user computing device, wherein the at least one application, when executed by the user computing device, is configured to cause the user computing device to:
• obtain category information and identifying information associated with a target smart device from which privacy information is to be removed;
• determine device parameters associated with the target smart device based at least in part on the category information and the identifying information associated with the target smart device;
• obtain a privacy information removal file based on the device parameters associated with the target smart device, wherein the privacy information removal file comprises a plurality of instruction sets for a corresponding plurality of candidate smart devices;
• present a series of images corresponding to the plurality of candidate smart devices arranged in a ranked order based on a degree of similarity to the target smart device;
• receive a selection of one of the series of images identifying one of the plurality of instruction sets associated with removing privacy information from the target smart device;
• present the one of the plurality of instruction sets corresponding to the selected one of the series of images;
• obtain a user experience feedback;
• and
• remove, using one or more of an Application Programming Interface (API), a webserver, or a mobile application, the privacy information from the target smart device.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of computer instructions executable by a user computing device, the plurality of computer instructions being configured to cause the user computing device to at least:

• obtain category information and identifying information associated with a target smart device from which privacy information is to be removed;
• determine device parameters associated with the target smart device based at least in part on the category information and the identifying information associated with the target smart device;
• obtain a privacy information removal file based on the device parameters associated with the target smart device, wherein the privacy information removal file comprises a plurality of instruction sets for a corresponding plurality of candidate smart devices;
• present a series of images corresponding to the plurality of candidate smart devices arranged in a ranked order based on a degree of similarity to the target smart device;
• receive a selection of one of the series of images identifying one of the plurality of instruction sets associated with removing privacy information from the target smart device;
• present the one of the plurality of instruction sets corresponding to the selected one of the series of images;
• obtain a user experience feedback;
• and
• remove, using one or more of an Application Programming Interface (API), a webserver, or a mobile application, the privacy information from the target smart device.
