Abstract
The disclosed technology relates to systems and methods for managing application startup within virtual environments. Operational requirements may be determined. A scheduler may receive a request for instantiating application instances that includes initialization parameters, which are analyzed by an external analyzer. The analyzer may generate an instantiation plan and instantiate the instances according to the plan.
Claims20
A method for managing application startup within a virtual environment, the method comprising:
- a determining operational requirements of the virtual environment, the operational requirements related to instantiation of one or more instances of an application within the virtual environment;
- receiving a request at a scheduler to instantiate one or more execution units corresponding to the one or more instances of the application within the virtual environment;
- determining by the scheduler a number of execution units corresponding to the one or more instances of the application within the virtual environment to meet the operational requirements;
- determining initialization parameters for the application at an external analyzer based at least in part on resource utilization of the application gathered from prior instantiations of the application, the initialization parameters defining a resource requirement, a dependency, and a startup behavior of the application;
- generating, at the external analyzer, an instantiation plan to instantiate the one or more instances of the application on one or more execution units based at least in part on the initialization parameters, the instantiation plan specifying a prioritization and a sequence for instantiating the one or more instances of the application on the one or more execution units, the sequence including staggering that is based on the dependency and the startup behavior, and the instantiation plan further including one or more fallback mechanisms specifying alternative execution units and retry policies to be employed if instantiation of an instance fails;
- instantiating the one or more instances of the application on the one or more execution units based at least in part on the instantiation plan, wherein instantiating the one or more instances of the application comprises initializing virtual resources for the one or more execution units and executing the one or more instances of the application;
- and
- monitoring the virtual environment for stability of the virtual environment after instantiating the number of execution units after instantiating the one or more instances of the application.
A computing system, comprising:
- one or more memories configured to store computer-executable instructions;
- and one or more processors configured to access the one or more memories and execute the computer-executable instructions to at least:
- determine operational requirements of a virtual environment, the operational requirements related to instantiation of one or more instances of an application within the virtual environment;
- receive a request at a scheduler to instantiate one or more execution units corresponding to the one or more instances of the application within the virtual environment;
- determine by the scheduler a number of execution units corresponding to the one or more instances of the application within the virtual environment to meet the operational requirements;
- determine initialization parameters for the application at an external analyzer based at least in part on resource utilization of the application gathered from prior instantiations of the application, the initialization parameters defining a resource requirement, a dependency, and a startup behavior of the application;
- generate, at the external analyzer, an instantiation plan to instantiate the one or more instances of the application on one or more execution units based at least in part on the initialization parameters, the instantiation plan specifying a prioritization and a sequence for instantiating the one or more instances of the application on the one or more execution units, the sequence including staggering that is based on the dependency and the startup behavior, and the instantiation plan further including one or more fallback mechanisms specifying alternative execution units and retry policies to be employed if instantiation of an instance fails;
- instantiate the one or more instances of the application on the one or more execution units based at least in part on the instantiation plan, wherein instantiating the one or more instances of the application comprises initializing virtual resources for the one or more execution units and executing the one or more instances of the application;
- and
- monitor the virtual environment for stability of the virtual environment after instantiating the number of execution units.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing instructions, that when executed by one or more processors, are configured to cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- determining operational requirements of a virtual environment, the operational requirements related to instantiation of one or more instances of an application within the virtual environment;
- receiving a request at a scheduler to instantiate one or more execution units corresponding to the one or more instances of the application within the virtual environment;
- determining by the scheduler a number of execution units corresponding to the one or more instances of the application within the virtual environment to meet the operational requirements;
- determining initialization parameters for the application at an external analyzer based at least in part on resource utilization of the application gathered from prior instantiations of the application, the initialization parameters defining a resource requirement, a dependency, and a startup behavior of the application;
- generating, at the external analyzer, an instantiation plan to instantiate the one or more instances of the application on one or more execution units based at least in part on the initialization parameters, the instantiation plan specifying a prioritization and a sequence for instantiating the one or more instances of the application on the one or more execution units, the sequence including staggering that is based on the dependency and the startup behavior, and the instantiation plan further including one or more fallback mechanisms specifying alternative execution units and retry policies to be employed if instantiation of an instance fails;
- instantiating the one or more instances of the application on the one or more execution units based at least in part on the instantiation plan, wherein instantiating the one or more instances of the application comprises initializing virtual resources for the one or more execution units and executing the one or more instances of the application;
- and
- monitoring the virtual environment for stability of the virtual environment after instantiating the number of execution units after instantiating the one or more instances of the application.
