Vehicle windshield virtual image display system and an operating system for same

A motor vehicle, comprising:

• a dashboard;
• a display system, including:
• a windshield including a pane layer,
• an image source in the dashboard,
• a reflection region which extends in parallel to a lateral edge of the pane layer such that, in an installed position of the windshield, the lateral edge is on the dashboard and the reflection region is configured to reflect light beams to generate a virtual image, wherein
• the reflection region is along at least one of:
• a lateral region of the pane layer on a pane surface, and
• a component separate from the pane layer on a frame of the windshield, and
• the image source includes
• a one-dimensional switchable strip display configured to emit light beams, the one-dimensional switchable strip display being in the dashboard in parallel to the lateral edge predetermined by a radius of curvature of at least one of the pane layer and of the component, and
• a two-dimensional switchable image display arranged without overlap in relation to the one-dimensional switchable strip display and being in the dashboard in parallel to the lateral edge predetermined by the radius of curvature of the at least one of the pane layer and of the component, and
• a controller configured to:
• control the one-dimensional switchable strip display to emit the light beams to be reflected at the reflection region by output of
• a dynamic running light configured to generate an animation effect by respective light sources of the one-dimensional switchable strip display being activated in at least one direction to generate an impression that the virtual image moves in the at least one direction, and
• a static light strip configured to display at least one information item among information items of:
• a setting process,
• a performed setting of a control parameter, and
• a remaining ratio of a storage capacity to a total storage capacity.
