Optical module

An optical module comprising:

• a glass board having a first face, a second face opposite to the first face, and a plurality of first vias and a plurality of second vias each penetrating between the first face and the second face, the glass board being made of glass, the first vias being two-dimensionally arranged in a plan view of the glass board, the second vias being two-dimensionally arranged in the plan view of the glass board;
• an electrical element fixed to only the first face of the glass board, and being a semiconductor circuit component configured to process an electrical signal, the electrical element including at least one of a driver circuit or an amplifier;
• a heat conduction member mounted on the second face of the glass board and thermally connected to the electrical element through the plurality of first vias;
• an optical element fixed to only the first face of the glass board and being a semiconductor component configured to convert between the electrical signal and an optical signal;
• a temperature control element mounted on the second face of the glass board, thermally connected to the optical element through the plurality of second vias, and for adjusting the temperature of the optical element;
• a first housing connected to the first face of the glass board and hermetically sealing the electrical element and the optical element;
• and
• electrical wiring electrically connecting the electrical element to the optical element and constituting a transmission line for transmitting the electrical signal between the electrical element and the optical element, the electrical wiring being formed within the first housing.
