Aerosol sensor and an integrated optical component thereof

An aerosol sensing system comprising:

• a detection area comprising a sampling space;
• a light source configured to project light to at least a portion of a holder, wherein the portion of the holder comprises the detection area;
• an integrated optical component comprising:
• a first lens configured on a first plane and disposed on a first sidewall of the integrated optical component, wherein the first lens is configured to receive incident light from the detection area and focus the incident light onto a reflector through a medium;
• the reflector configured on a third plane and disposed on a third sidewall of the integrated optical component, wherein the reflector is configured to reflect the incident light towards a second lens;
• and
• the second lens configured on a second plane and disposed on a second sidewall of the integrated optical component, wherein the second lens is configured to receive the incident light from the reflector and focus the incident light to a photosensor, wherein the third plane is opposite an angle formed by an intersection of the first plane and the second plane;
• the integrated optical component coupled to a circuit board via the holder, wherein
• (i) the holder comprises a fixture that positions the integrated optical component in a stationary position relative to the light source and the photosensor, and
• (ii) the integrated optical component is configured to:
• receive the incident light from the detection area based at least in part on the light projected by the light source;
• and
• direct the incident light to the photosensor;
• the photosensor configured to:
• receive the incident projected light from the integrated optical component;
• and
• convert the incident projected light into an electric signal;
• and
• a shield configured to protect the photosensor, the circuit board, and the light source from damage.

An aerosol sensor comprising:

• a circuit board configured to generate aerosol detection signals based at least in part on electric signals generated by a photosensor;
• an integrated optical component coupled to the circuit board via a holder, the integrated optical component comprising:
• a first lens configured on a first plane and disposed on a first sidewall of the integrated optical component, wherein the first lens is configured to receive incident light from a detection area and focus the incident light onto a reflector through a medium;
• the reflector configured on a third plane and disposed on a third sidewall of the integrated optical component, wherein the reflector is configured to reflect the incident light towards a second lens;
• and
• the second lens configured on a second plane and disposed on a second sidewall of the integrated optical component, wherein the second lens is configured to receive the incident light from the reflector and focus the incident light to the photosensor, wherein the third plane is opposite an angle formed by an intersection of the first plane and the second plane;
• the holder comprising a fixture that positions the integrated optical component in a stationary position relative to a light source and the photosensor;
• the light source coupled to the circuit board and interfacing with the first sidewall of the integrated optical component, wherein:
• (i) the light source is configured to (a) project light to at least a portion of the holder and, (b) cause the projected light to be received into the integrated optical component at the first sidewall, and
• (ii) the portion of the holder comprises the detection area;
• the photosensor coupled to the circuit board and interfacing with the second sidewall of the integrated optical component, wherein the photosensor is configured to;
• (i) receive the projected light from the integrated optical component via the second sidewall, and
• (ii) convert the projected light into the electric signals;
• and
• a shield configured to protect the photosensor, the circuit board, and the light source from damage.
