Autonomous vehicle planned route prediction

A method of providing transportation services, comprising:

• receiving, by a service assignment system, a transportation service request from a user, the transportation service request describing a transportation service having a start location and an end location;
• selecting, by the service assignment system, a first set of candidate autonomous vehicles (AVs) of a first AV type, the first set of candidate AVs capable of executing the transportation service, the first set of candidate AVs comprising a first AV;
• determining, by the service assignment system, a first predicted route for the first AV using vehicle capability data describing autonomous vehicle operational capabilities of the first AV type and first difference data, the first difference data generated by the service assignment system by comparing, for a prior transportation service previously assigned to the previous AV of the first AV type by the service assignment system, at least one roadway element difference between a previous predicted route generated by the service assignment system for the prior transportation service for the previous AV of the first AV type and a previous planned route generated by and received from the previous AV of the first AV type in response to prior instruction data transmitted from the service assignment system to the previous AV, the previous planned route describing a transportation service route generated by and planned for the previous AV to execute the prior transportation service;
• selecting, by the service assignment system, the first AV based on the first predicted route for executing the transportation service;
• and
• transmitting instruction data from the service assignment system to the first AV, the instruction data causing the first AV to begin executing the transportation service based on the first predicted route.

A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising instructions thereon that, when executed by at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

• receiving a transportation service request at a service assignment system from a user, the transportation service request describing a transportation service having a start location and an end location;
• selecting, at the service assignment system, a first set of candidate autonomous vehicles (AVs) of a first AV type, the first set of candidate AVs capable of executing the transportation service, the first set of candidate AVs comprising a first AV;
• determining, at the service assignment system, a first predicted route for the first AV using vehicle capability data describing autonomous vehicle operational capabilities of the first AV type and first difference data, the first difference data generated by the service assignment system by comparing for a prior transportation service previously assigned to the previous AV of the first AV type by the service assignment system, at least one roadway element difference between a previous predicted route generated by the service assignment system for the prior transportation service for the previous AV of the first AV type and a previous planned route generated by and received from the previous AV of the first AV type in response to prior instruction data transmitted from the service assignment system to the previous AV, the previous planned route describing a transportation service route generated by and planned for the previous AV to execute the prior transportation service;
• selecting, at the service assignment system, the first AV based on the first predicted route for executing the transportation service;
• and
• transmitting instruction data from the service assignment system to the first AV, the instruction data causing the first AV to begin executing the transportation service based on the first predicted route.
