Door lock assembly for a dwelling

A door assembly, comprising:

• a latch assembly including:
• a head portion;
• a first latch housing defining a first opening, wherein the first latch housing is attached to the head portion;
• a second latch housing defining a second opening, wherein the second latch housing is attached to the head portion;
• a latch hub;
• a hub cradle comprising a first hub cradle portion and a second hub cradle portion, wherein the first hub cradle portion defines a first recess that is offset from a center of the first hub cradle portion, and wherein the second hub cradle portion defines a second recess that is offset from a center of the second hub cradle portion,
• wherein the first hub cradle portion and the second hub cradle portion are positioned between the first latch housing and the second latch housing, wherein the first opening of the first latch housing is configured to partially receive the first hub cradle portion with the first hub cradle portion in either a short orientation or a long orientation, wherein the second opening of the second latch housing is configured to partially receive the second hub cradle portion with the second hub cradle portion in either a short orientation or a long orientation, wherein the latch hub is positioned between the first hub cradle portion and the second hub cradle portion, wherein the latch hub is aligned with the first recess and the second recess, wherein the latch assembly is configured to operate in a short backset panel configuration when the first hub cradle portion is in the short orientation and when the second hub cradle portion is in the short orientation, and wherein the latch assembly is configured to operate in a long backset panel configuration when the first hub cradle portion is in the long orientation and when the second hub cradle portion is in the long orientation, and wherein a distance from the head portion to the latch hub in the long backset panel configuration is larger than a distance from the head portion to the latch hub in the short backset panel configuration,
• wherein the latch hub includes an outer component and an insert, wherein the outer component defines a first cavity in an internal portion of the outer component, wherein the outer component is configured to receive the insert within the first cavity, wherein the latch hub defines a second cavity when the insert is received within the first cavity of the outer component, wherein the second cavity is smaller in cross-sectional size relative to the first cavity, wherein the latch hub is configured to receive a first spindle in the first cavity when the insert is removed, and wherein the latch hub is configured to receive a second spindle in the second cavity when the insert is added.
