Abstract
The system allows a user to construct a dome while masking the dome within a structure built with traditional wood building materials. The system may include a membrane material that defines the walls and roof of the dome. The system may also have brackets that are placed into the roof formed by the membrane material. After foam has been sprayed, a user may insert wires into the foam. The wires are positioned so as to receive rebar to add structural stability to the dome. A robotic sprayer applies shotcrete to inner walls of the dome, over the foam, wire, and rebar. A traditional roof may be coupled to the completed concrete dome using the brackets that have been embedded throughout the initial construction of the dome.
Claims20
A method of constructing a structure comprising:
- constructing a dome with walls and a roof;
- fastening a one or more brackets into the roof of the dome, the one or more brackets comprising a platform, one or more shafts protruding from an upper surface of the platform, and one or more panels protruding from a lower surface of the platform;
- spraying an inner surface of the walls and the roof of the dome with foam;
- inserting a predetermined length of a plurality of wires into the foam, leaving a portion of the plurality of wires extending from the foam;
- fastening rebar to the portion of the plurality of wires extending from the foam;
- spraying shotcrete over the inner surface of the walls and roof, covering the foam, the plurality of wires, and the rebar;
- fastening trusses to the one or more brackets extending upward from an outer surface of the roof of the dome;
- and
- constructing a first structure around the dome, the first structure comprising the trusses.
A method of constructing a structure comprising:
- constructing a dome with walls and a roof;
- fastening one or more brackets into the roof of the dome, the one or more brackets comprising:
- a platform,
- a first shaft and a second shaft coupled to and extending from an upper surface of the platform, the first and second shafts being perpendicular to the platform, and
- a first panel and a second panel coupled to and extending from a lower surface of the platform, the first and second panels being perpendicular to the platform;
- spraying the walls and the roof of the dome with foam;
- initiating a robotic sprayer to spray shotcrete over the inner surface of the walls and roof;
- fastening trusses to the first and second shafts that extend upward from an outer surface of the dome;
- and
- constructing a first structure around the dome, the first structure comprising the trusses.
A method of constructing a structure comprising:
- constructing dome with walls and a roof;
- fastening one or more brackets into the roof of the dome, the one or more brackets comprising:
- a platform,
- a first shaft and a second shaft extending from an upper surface of the platform, the first and second shafts being perpendicular to the platform, and
- a first panel and a second panel that extend from a lower surface of the platform, the first and second panels being perpendicular to the platform;
- inserting plates into the roof of the dome;
- spraying an inner surface of the walls and the roof of the dome with foam;
- inserting a predetermined length of a plurality of wires into the foam, leaving a portion of the plurality of wires extending from the foam;
- fastening rebar to the portion of the plurality of wires extending from the foam;
- programing a robotic sprayer to the dimensions of the dome;
- initiating the robotic sprayer to spray shotcrete over the inner surface of the walls and roof, covering the foam, the plurality of wires, and the rebar;
- fastening trusses to the one or more brackets extending upward from an outer surface of the roof of the dome;
- and
- constructing a first structure around the dome, the first structure comprising the trusses.
