Abstract
A modular foundation system comprises a concrete reinforced matrix having embedded pre-tensioned components and a recessed tension bolster region adjacent the lower surface of the foundation at each end, and a pair of lifting safety bars partially embedded in the foundation within the recess and terminating at the end of the foundation.
Claims10
A foundation, comprising:
- a rectangular floor having two long edges and two short edges, a top surface on which a structure may be erected, and an underside surface;
- first and second side beams, the first side beam associated with one of the two long edges of the rectangular floor and the second side beam associated with the other of the two long edges of the floor;
- first and second end beams, the first end beam associated with one of the short edges of the rectangular floor and the second end beam associated with the other of the two short edges of the rectangular floor;
- a plurality of load reaction columns each comprising a first structural component and a second structural component, each of the plurality of load reaction columns embedded in the foundation at respective junctions of a side beam of the first and second side beams and an end beam of the first and second end beams such that the second structural components are positioned at a bottom surface of respective ones of the first and second side beams in which respective ones of the plurality of load reaction columns are embedded;
- a plurality of pre-tensioned wire cables embedded in the foundation along each of the first and second side beams spanning between the plurality of load reaction columns embedded in the first and second side beams;
- a lifting safety bar adjacent each of the plurality of load reaction columns and comprising a length of a rod, a portion of which is embedded in the foundation and another portion of which is exposed and not embedded in the foundation, an end of the exposed portion of each of the rods is substantially flush with an outer surface of a respective one of the first and second end beams;
- and
- a tension bolster region defined by each of the first and second end beams and having a depth along the first and second side beams defined by the exposed portion of each of the rods of the lifting safety bars rod.

A foundation, comprising:
- a rectangular floor having a top surface, an underside surface, first and second long edges, and first and second end short edges;
- first and second perimeter side beams supporting the rectangular floor along the first and second long edges, each of the first and second perimeter side beams having a bottom surface and a first height from the top surface of the rectangular floor to the bottom surface;
- a plurality of pre-tensioned wire cables within a lower portion of each of the first and second perimeter side beams;
- first and second perimeter end beams supporting the rectangular floor along the first and second short edges, each of the first and second perimeter end beams having at least one reduced region with a second height from the top surface of the rectangular floor that is less than the first height;
- a first lifting region defined by the first perimeter end beam, the reduced region in the first perimeter end beam, and the first short edge of the rectangular floor;
- a second lifting region defined by the second perimeter end beam, the reduced region in the second perimeter end beam, and the second short edge of the rectangular floor;
- a closed cell foam adhered to at least a portion of the underside surface of the rectangular floor when the foundation is removed from a foundation casting mold;
- and
- when the bottom surfaces of the first and second perimeter side beams contact a ground surface, one or more tension components of a foundation lifting system is configured to may span a length of the concrete foundation from the first and second perimeter end beams and through the at least one reduced region regions of reduced height in the first and second perimeter end beams without contacting the ground surface.
