Insulated panel connection

An insert for insertion within a first insulated panel of the type having a rigid foam core sandwiched between metal sheets, the insert comprising an elongated member made of a single metal sheet having the following shaped sections:

• a. a flat linear elongated proximal section extending in a direction of insertion to extend one end of the insert into the first panel substantially perpendicularly to a surface of the first panel where the proximal section is inserted into, immobilizing the insert within the first panel, wherein the proximal section is entirely inserted inside the first insulated panel when said insert is inserted within the first insulated panel;
• b. a distal section extending perpendicular to the proximal section that is positioned along a surface of the first panel when said insert is inserted within the first insulated panel;
• c. a middle section having a first end connected to the proximal section and a second end opposed to said first end connected to the distal sections, wherein the middle section comprises at least one bent portion, forming a guiding section that can facilitate fastening of the insert to other inserts or structures by guiding a fastener into a desired part of the insert, and wherein one of the group consisting of:
• i. when said insert is inserted in said first insulated panel, said bent portion and most of said middle section are inserted inside an orifice or slot cut into the first insulated panel, and
• ii. when said insert is used to couple said first insulated panel to a second insulated panel, said second end of said middle section is extending away from an outside surface of the first panel and is inserted inside said second insulated panel;
• and
• d. said distal section including a first flat subsection for running along the outside surface of the first panel and a second subsection bent in a direction of insertion to wrap around the end of the first panel, providing grip or friction to the insert relative to the first panel or otherwise immobilize the insert on the first panel, or provide additional sealing around the end of the first panel.
