Method of producing organic-inorganic hybrid infrared absorbing particles and organic-inorganic hybrid infrared absorbing particles

Organic-inorganic hybrid infrared absorbing particles comprising,

• infrared absorbing particles;
• a coating resin encapsulating the infrared absorbing particles;
• and
• a dispersant comprising a copolymer comprising styrene units and tertiary amine units,
• wherein the dispersant is disposed on surfaces of the infrared absorbing particles, the coating resin is disposed on the dispersant, and the coating resin is obtained by polymerization within stabilized mini-emulsion droplets in the presence of a cationic emulsifying agent;
• wherein the organic-inorganic hybrid infrared absorbing particles have a spherical shape;
• wherein the infrared absorbing particles include one or more oxides selected from a tungsten oxide and a composite tungsten oxide;
• wherein the tungsten oxide is represented by a general formula WyOz where W is tungsten and O is oxygen, and 2.2≤z/y≤2.999, and
• wherein the composite tungsten oxide is represented by a general formula Mx WyOz where M is one or more elements selected from H, He, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, rare earth elements, Zr, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, Al, Ga, In, Tl, Si, Ge, Sn, Sb, B, F, P, S, Se, Br, Te, Ti, Nb, V, Mo, Ta, Re, Be, Hf, Os, Bi, and I, where 0.001≤x/y≤1 and 2.0≤z/y≤3.0.
