Abstract
A therapeutic or diagnostic composition includes nanoparticle or microparticle constructs designed to target activated neutrophils. Each construct features an outer surface conjugated with multiple targeting peptides. These targeting peptides comprise an amino acid sequence with at least 60% identity to SEQ ID NO: 1 or a retro-inverso amino acid sequence thereof, modified by a substitution at position 4P, 5M, or 6S. The modified peptides facilitate specific binding to neutrophil elastase present on the surface of neutrophils, allowing for site-specific delivery or monitoring of the constructs in inflammatory environments.
Claims18
A composition comprising a plurality of nanoparticle and/or microparticle constructs that target activated neutrophils, each nanoparticle and/or microparticle construct having an outer surface and a plurality of targeting peptides conjugated to the surface of the nanoparticle and/or microparticle construct, wherein each of the targeting peptides comprising an amino acid sequence that has at least 60% identity to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 and a substitution of an amino acid of at least one of residue 4P, 5M, or 6S of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 and wherein the targeting peptides bind neutrophil elastase on neutrophil surface.
