Abstract
A method of monitoring an orientation of objects on a production line may include monitoring, using at least one imaging sensor, a plurality of objects on a production line. The method may include detecting that one object of the plurality of objects is in an improper orientation on the production line based on data from the at least one imaging sensor. The method may include automatically removing the one object from the production line upon detecting that the one object is in an improper orientation.
Claims21
A method of monitoring an orientation of objects on a production line, comprising:
- monitoring, using at least one imaging sensor, a plurality of objects on a production line;
- detecting that one object of the plurality of objects is in an improper orientation on the production line based on data from the at least one imaging sensor, wherein the detecting comprises the at least one image sensor:
- detecting that a shape of the one object does not match a shape of a properly oriented object;
- and
- detecting that optical characteristics of the one object do not match one or more predefined values;
- and
- automatically removing the one object from the production line upon detecting that the one object is in an improper orientation.
A production line, comprising:
- a conveyor mechanism that is configured to transport a plurality of objects down a portion of the production line;
- an object removal mechanism positioned proximate the conveyor mechanism;
- at least one imaging sensor positioned to capture an image of at least a portion of the conveyor mechanism;
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory having instructions stored thereon that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to:
- detect that one object of the plurality of objects is in an improper orientation on the conveyor mechanism based on data from the at least one imaging sensor, wherein the detecting comprises the at least one image sensor:
- detecting that a shape of the one object does not match a shape of a properly oriented object;
- and
- detecting that optical characteristics of the one object do not match one or more predefined values;
- and
- cause the object removal mechanism to remove the one object from the production line upon detecting that the one object is in an improper orientation.
A production line, comprising:
- a first conveyor mechanism that is configured to transport a plurality of objects down a portion of the production line;
- a second conveyor mechanism that is positioned downstream of the first conveyor mechanism;
- a vacuum bridge configured to transfer at least some of the plurality of objects from the first conveyor mechanism to the second conveyor mechanism;
- one or more imaging sensors positioned to image at least a portion of the first conveyor mechanism;
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory having instructions stored thereon that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to:
- detect that one or more of the plurality of objects are in an improper orientation on the conveyor mechanism based on data from the at least one imaging sensor, wherein the detecting comprises the at least one image sensor:
- detecting that a shape of the one or more objects does not match a shape of a properly oriented object;
- and
- detecting that optical characteristics of the one or more objects do not match one or more predefined values;
- and
- cause the vacuum bridge to cut off a supply of negative pressure to at least a portion of the vacuum bridge proximate the one or more of the plurality of objects to force the one or more of the plurality of objects to fall from the vacuum bridge.
