Liquid discharge apparatus

A liquid discharge apparatus comprising:

• a first control circuit configured to output a reference drive signal, a first discharge control signal, a select signal, and an encoder clock signal;
• a second control circuit configured to output a second discharge control signal;
• a drive circuit configured to output a drive signal in accordance with the reference drive signal;
• a first discharge section configured to discharge liquid onto a medium in accordance with the drive signal and the first discharge control signal;
• a second discharge section configured to discharge liquid onto the medium in accordance with the drive signal and the second discharge control signal;
• a first timing signal output circuit configured to output a first timing signal in accordance with a relative positional relationship between the medium and the first discharge section;
• and
• an operation timing signal output circuit to which the select signal and the encoder clock signal are input from the first control circuit and to which the first timing signal is input from the first timing signal output circuit, the operation timing signal output circuit being configured to, in accordance with the select signal, the encoder clock signal, and the first timing signal, generate an operation timing signal that specifies operation timings of the first control circuit and the second control circuit and output the operation timing signal to the first control circuit and the second control circuit, the operation timing signal output circuit including a second timing signal output circuit configured to generate a second timing signal that simulates the first timing signal based on the encoder clock signal, wherein
• in a first mode in which the relative positional relationship between the medium and the first discharge section changes, the operation timing signal output circuit is configured to output the first timing signal as the operation timing signal to the first control circuit and the second control circuit, and the first control circuit and the second control circuit are operated in accordance with the first timing signal, whereas
• in a second mode in which the relative positional relationship between the medium and the first discharge section does not change, the second timing signal output circuit of the operation timing signal output circuit is configured to generate the second timing signal, the operation timing signal output circuit is configured to output the second timing signal as the operation timing signal to the first control circuit and the second control circuit, and the first control circuit and the second control circuit are operated in accordance with the second timing signal.
