Abstract
Described herein is a guide catheter, including: a catheter tube having a catheter lumen, a first opening, and a second opening; and a balloon surrounding the catheter tube. In the guide catheter, the length of the section of the catheter tube between the balloon and the second opening ranges from about 8 cm to about 25 cm. Also described herein are methods of using the guide catheter.
Claims16
A guide catheter, comprising:
- a catheter tube having
- a catheter lumen,
- a first opening, and
- a second opening;
- and
- a balloon surrounding the catheter tube,
- wherein the length of the section of the catheter tube between the balloon and the second opening ranges from about 8 cm to about 25 cm;
- wherein the stiffness of the catheter tube varies between the section surrounded by the balloon and the second opening;
- and
- wherein the stiffness of the catheter tube between the section surrounded by the balloon and the second opening gradually decreases toward the second opening of the catheter tube.
