Abstract
The embodiments include methods of treating conditions requiring removal or destruction of cellular elements, such as benign or malignant tumors using compounds based on small peptides in combination with additional active agent(s). The method includes, but is not limited to, administering the compounds intramuscularly, orally, intravenously, intrathecally, intraprostatically, intratumorally, intranasally, topically, transdermally, etc., either alone or conjugated to a carrier to a mammal in need thereof.
Claims6
A method of treating a human having benign prostatic hyperplasia that had not previously received oral medications for benign prostatic hyperplasia comprising:
- (a) identifying and selecting a human having benign prostatic hyperplasia who had not previously received oral medications for benign prostatic hyperplasia;
- (b) administering to the human, by intraprostatic injection, a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of an isolated peptide comprising the amino acid sequence in SEQ ID NO. 66 (Ile-Asp-Gin-Gln-Val-Leu-Ser-Arg-Ile-Lys-Leu-Glu-Ile-Lys-Arg-Cys-Leu), and phosphate buffered saline, and (c) within two to five years after (b), subsequently orally administering at least one active agent selected from the group consisting of tamsulosin, finasteride, terazosin, doxazosin, prazosin, alfuzosin, silodosin, dutasteride, and mixtures and combinations thereof.
A method of treating a human having benign prostatic hyperplasia that had not previously received oral medications for benign prostatic hyperplasia comprising:
- (a) identifying and selecting a human having benign prostatic hyperplasia who had not previously received oral medications for benign prostatic hyperplasia;
- (b) administering to the human, a transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) guided intraprostatic injection, a composition comprising about 2.5 mg of an isolated peptide comprising the amino acid sequence in SEQ ID NO. 66 (Ile-Asp-Gln-Gln-Val-Leu-Ser-Arg-Ile-Lys-Leu-Glu-Ile-Lys-Arg-Cys-Leu), and phosphate buffered saline, and (c) within two to five years after (b), subsequently orally administering at least one active agent selected from the group consisting of tamsulosin, finasteride, terazosin, doxazosin, prazosin, alfuzosin, silodosin, dutasteride, and mixtures and combinations thereof.
