Abstract
The invention pertains to the composition for use as a medical or therapeutic substance for improving cognitive performance and methods for preparation thereof. The composition comprises a rare ginsenoside, a ginsan and a gintonin. Methods include growing a ginseng in a hydroponic environment, harvesting its root, and cooking the harvested root after drying and/or grinding the harvested root. Preferably, the ratio of ginsan to gintonin ranges from about 1:100 to about 500:1. Preferably, the ratio of rare ginsenosides to ginsan and gintonin is from about 1:40 to about 250:1.
Claims14
A method of manufacturing a composition, said composition comprising a rare ginsenoside, a ginsan and a gintonin, and said manufacturing method comprising:
- extracting rare ginsenoside, ginsan, and gintonin from a ginseng, the extraction comprising the steps of:
- growing the ginseng in a hydroponic environment;
- harvesting a root from said grown ginseng;
- drying and/or grinding said harvested root;
- cooking said harvested ginseng root;
- mixing and recirculating the cooked ginseng root in a hydroalcoholic solution to yield an extracted solution;
- and
- filtering the extracted solution to yield the composition, wherein a weight ratio in the composition of ginsan to gintonin is from 1:100 to 500:1 and wherein a weight ratio of rare ginsenosides to ginsan and gintonin is from 1:40 to 250:1.
