Abstract
Disclosed herein are methods and compositions useful for the treatment of subjects suffering from Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS). The methods include administering compositions comprising probiotics, such as Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri) and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (B. lactis) to subjects in need thereof.
Claims14
A method of treating a pediatric subject diagnosed with or at risk of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), the method comprising:
- administering to the subject an effective amount of a probiotic comprising Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BL-11 (BL-11), deposited at the China General Microbiological Culture Collection Center under CGMCC No. 20847,
- wherein the treatment comprises administering the effective amount of the probiotic for at least about 3 weeks,
- wherein the subject is suffering from short stature, and
- wherein the subject's height after treatment is increased, as compared to the subject's height before treatment.
