Abstract
The present invention is directed to compounds and corresponding pharmaceutical formulations for use in the medical treatment of CNS- and neurodegenerative diseases, for example, for use in the treatment and prophylaxis of familial or sporadic Alzheimer's disease. The invention further relates to corresponding methods of treatment and to a method for determining treatment progression or outcome of senescence and anti-aging treatment based on the detection and/or quantification of Membrane Palmitoylated Protein 1 (MPP1).
Claims8
A method for the treatment of a disease in a patient, the method comprising administering a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of a compound,
- wherein:
- the compound has the chemical structure:
- (1-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-4-(cyclopropanecarbonyl)-3-hydroxy-2-phenyl-2H-pyrrol-5-one),
- (1-(1,3-Benzodioxol-5-yl)-4-(cyclopropanecarbonyl)-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-hydroxy-2H-pyrrol-5-one), or
- a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- and
- the disease is selected from the group consisting of Alzheimer's disease, neurodegenerative symptoms of ageing, decline of male fertility, and decline of female fertility.
