Abstract
A canister surface cleaning apparatus comprising an air treatment assembly. The air treatment assembly comprises an air treatment member and a dirt collection chamber exterior to the air treatment member. The air treatment assembly has first and second opposed ends and a sidewall that extends between the first and second ends. The sidewall has an openable door whereby the dirt collection chamber is opened when the door is opened, and the air treatment member is removably mounted in the first end of the air treatment assembly.
Claims20
A surface cleaning apparatus comprising:
- (a) an air treatment assembly which is moveable between an operating position in which the surface cleaning apparatus is useable to clean a surface and an emptying position, the air treatment assembly comprising:
- (i) an air treatment member;
- and,
- (ii) a dirt collection chamber exterior to the air treatment member;
- the air treatment assembly having bottom and top opposed ends and a sidewall that extends between the bottom and top ends, wherein the sidewall has an openable door whereby the dirt collection chamber is opened when the door is opened, and the air treatment member is removably mounted to a remainder of the air treatment assembly, and
- wherein, when the air treatment assembly is in the operating position and the surface cleaning apparatus is positioned on a floor, an air treatment member axis intersects the top and bottom ends of the air treatment assembly.

A surface cleaning apparatus comprising:
- (a) an air treatment assembly which is moveable between an operating position in which the surface cleaning apparatus is useable to clean a surface and an emptying position, the air treatment assembly comprising:
- (i) an air treatment member;

- and,
- (iii) a handle,
- the air treatment assembly having bottom and top opposed ends and a sidewall that extends between the bottom and top ends, wherein the sidewall has an openable door whereby the dirt collection chamber is opened when the door is opened, and the air treatment member is removably mounted to a remainder of the air treatment assembly, and
- wherein, when the air treatment assembly is in the operating position and the surface cleaning apparatus is positioned on a floor, an air treatment member axis intersects the top and bottom ends of the air treatment assembly, and
- wherein an axis transverse to the air treatment member axis intersects a hand grip portion of the handle and the door.
