Customized protective devices and systems and methods for producing the same

A protective device for protecting a protected location on a subject's body, the protective device comprising:

• a contoured member configured to cover at least the protected location, wherein the contoured member comprises:
• an outer profile defined at least in part from anatomical data collected from the subject's body;
• an inner surface configured to face the protected location and at least partially conforming to the anatomical data, wherein the inner surface is defined at least in part from a non-uniform rational basis (NURB)-spline surface modeling process performed on the point cloud of anatomical data collected from the subject's body;
• an outer surface configured to face away from the protected location;
• a first contact portion configured to contact the subject's body above the protected location;
• a second contact portion configured to contact the subject's body below the protected location;
• and
• a bridge portion positioned between the first contact portion and the second contact portion, wherein the bridge portion does not contact the subject's body at the protected location when the first contact portion and the second contact portion contact the subject's body.
