A water-drinking state identification method for controlling a computer to function as a water-drinking state identification device comprising:

• computing a temperature change rate that is a change rate amount per unit time of an intragastric temperature to be measured by a temperature sensor disposed in a stomach of an animal;
• identifying, as a first timing, a timing at which the temperature change rate exceeds a first prescribed change rate amount set in advance and becomes negative;
• identifying, as a second timing, a timing at which the intragastric temperature becomes equal to or higher than a prescribed temperature set in advance and an absolute value of the temperature change rate becomes less than a second prescribed change rate amount set in advance after the first timing;
• and
• estimating an amount of water drunk between the first timing and the second timing or a substitute value for the amount of water drunk based on a time from the first timing to the second timing.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a program for executing a water-drinking state identification method comprising:

• computing a temperature change rate that is a change rate amount per unit time of an intragastric temperature to be measured by a temperature sensor disposed in a stomach of an animal;
• identifying, as a first timing, a timing at which the temperature change rate exceeds a first prescribed change rate amount set in advance and becomes negative;
• identifying, as a second timing, a timing at which the intragastric temperature becomes equal to or higher than a prescribed temperature set in advance and an absolute value of the temperature change rate becomes less than a second prescribed change rate amount set in advance after the first timing;
• and
• estimating an amount of water drunk between the first timing and the second timing or a substitute value for the amount of water drunk based on a time from the first timing to the second timing.
