Header

An agricultural harvester comprising:

• a header including a pickup mechanism that picks up crop from a field, a frame that supports the pickup mechanism, and the pickup mechanism including at least one wheel that supports the frame on the ground;
• a feeder feeding the crop into the agricultural harvester for further processing, the feeder being pivotably connected to a chassis of the agricultural harvester via at least one lift cylinder, the header being connected to the feeder that pivots therewith;
• a sensor detecting a ground surface composition in an area behind the pickup mechanism;
• and
• a control system operably coupled to the at least one lift cylinder and the sensor, wherein the control system operates the at least one lift cylinder in adjusting a pressure that the header exerts on the ground based on the detected ground surface composition;
• wherein the at least one wheel that supports the frame on the ground comprises a pair of front wheels supporting a forward portion of the frame;
• and
• wherein the pair of front wheels are arranged at a fore of a wind guard assembly and at respective lateral ends of the wind guard assembly of the pickup mechanism.
