Abstract
A set-top box with enhanced behavioral controls and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the set-top box, a wireless transceiver is located within a housing, which also interconnectively includes a signal input, a signal output, a processor, and memory. The set-top box may pair with an electronic door locking apparatus coupled to a door that is room-collocated with the set-top box in a hospitality establishment. The set-top box may then reprogram the electronic door locking apparatus as well as control amenities, such as a display, in response to presence signal from the electronic door locking apparatus.

A system for providing do-not-disturb toggling with an electronic door locking apparatus, the system comprising:
- a programming interface being configured to communicate with a set-top box having a processor, non-transitory memory, storage, a signal input, a signal output, and a wireless transceiver interconnected in a busing architecture, the signal input configured to receive a source signal from an external source, the signal output configured to forward a fully tuned signal to a display, and the wireless transceiver configured to communicate with an electronic door locking apparatus coupled to a door, the electronic door locking apparatus being room-collocated with the set-top box;
- and
- the non-transitory memory accessible to the processor, the memory including processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to:
- pair with the electronic door locking apparatus;
- receive a do-not-disturb status input from at least one of (i) the electronic door locking apparatus or (ii) a remote server;
- generate a command signal to update a do-not-disturb status associated with the door;
- and
- forward an indicator of the updated do-not-disturb status to at least one of (i) the display or (ii) the remote server.
A system for presence-based actions in conjunction with an electronic door locking apparatus, the system comprising:
- a programming interface being configured to communicate with a set-top box having a processor, non-transitory memory, storage, a signal input, a signal output, and a wireless transceiver interconnected in a busing architecture, the signal input configured to receive a source signal from an external source, the signal output configured to forward a fully tuned signal to a display, and the wireless transceiver configured to communicate with an electronic door locking apparatus coupled to a door, the electronic door locking apparatus being room-collocated with the set-top box;
- and
- the non-transitory memory accessible to the processor, the memory including processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to:
- pair with the electronic door locking apparatus;
- receive a presence signal from the electronic door locking apparatus indicating an occupant has entered the room;
- forward a command signal to the display in response to the presence signal;
- receive a guest leave signal from the electronic door locking apparatus indicating the occupant has exited the room;
- and
- forward a second command signal to adjust at least one room amenity based on the guest leave signal.
A system for providing interaction with an electronic door locking apparatus, the system comprising:
- a programming interface being configured to communicate with a set-top box having a processor, non-transitory memory, storage, a signal input, a signal output, and a wireless transceiver interconnected in a busing architecture, the signal input configured to receive a source signal from an external source, the signal output configured to forward a fully tuned signal to a display, the wireless transceiver configured to communicate with an electronic door locking apparatus coupled to a door, the electronic door locking apparatus being room-collocated with the set-top box;
- and
- the non-transitory memory accessible to the processor, the memory including processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to:
- receive a guest check-out signal,
- receive a guest leave signal from the electronic door locking apparatus, and
- reprogram the electronic door locking apparatus to revoke a keyless entry code.
