Inter prediction mode dependent scaling factors

A method of video encoding, the method comprising:

• receiving a video data comprising a block in a current picture;
• determining whether a motion vector difference (MVD), of any of a joint motion vector difference (JMVD) and a JMVD with adaptive motion vector resolution (AMVR), is to be jointly signaled for reference frames of the block;
• based on determining that the MVD is to be jointly signaled for the references frames of the block, deriving, based on flexible scaling factors, a first MVD for a first reference frame of the block and, based on deriving the first MVD for the first reference frame, deriving a second MVD for a second reference frame of the block;
• and
• encoding in a video bitstream the block based on the derived first MVD and the derived second MVD.

A method of encoding visual media data, the method comprising:

• generating a bitstream of the visual media data according to an encoding process,
• the bitstream of the visual media data comprising a block in a current picture, and
• the encoding process comprises:
• receiving a video data comprising the block in the current picture;
• determining whether a motion vector difference (MVD), of any of a joint motion vector difference (JMVD) and a JMVD with adaptive motion vector resolution (AMVR), is to be jointly signaled for reference frames of the block;
• based on determining that the MVD is to be jointly signaled for the references frames of the block, deriving, based on flexible scaling factors, a first MVD for a first reference frame of the block and, based on deriving the first MVD for the first reference frame, deriving a second MVD for a second reference frame of the block;
• and
• transmitting the generated bitstream of the visual media data.
