Communication through telephone networks (including Public Switched Telephone Networks, Public Land Mobile Networks and Private Branch Exchanges) use a hardware device and/or a software client. Systems and methods of the subject technology include a Telephone DTN connector, which is an apparatus that is connected to the Telephone Networks and to Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networks (DTN) that includes methods to locate, process, forward and receive requests and media from users in the telephone networks through the DTN Network. Some embodiments connect users (or software applications) located in outer space (for example Earth Low Earth Orbit, Moon, Mars) with a telephony network. A Telephone DTN instance, located at the remote outer space destination, includes methods to locate, process, forward and receive the requests and media to the users' (or software applications') telephone devices and clients (including the Telephone DTN Web Client) in outer space.
