Communication method, apparatus, and system

A reconfigurable intelligent surface apparatus, comprising:

• at least one processor, and one or more memories coupled to the at least one processor and storing programming instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the reconfigurable intelligent surface apparatus to perform operations comprising:
• detecting an optical signal from a transmitter to obtain first target information, wherein the first target information is the detected optical signal;
• modulating the first target information based on a modulation scheme of an electrical signal, to generate the electrical signal;
• and
• sending the electrical signal to a receiver.

A receiver, comprising:

• at least one processor, and one or more memories coupled to the at least one processor and storing programming instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the receiver to perform operations comprising:
• receiving an electrical signal from a reconfigurable intelligent surface structure wherein the reconfigurable intelligent surface structure comprises a reconfigurable intelligent surface array and is configured to detect an optical signal and generate the electrical signal based on the optical signal;
• detecting the electrical signal from the reconfigurable intelligent surface structure to obtain target information, wherein the target information is the detected electrical signal;
• and
• demodulating the target information to obtain data information and/or control information carried in an optical signal.
