Transfer function generation system and method

A method for generating a transfer function indicating audio transmission characteristics of an input device associated with a processing device, the method comprising:

• determining one or more parameters of the input device, wherein the parameters include a location of a microphone associated with the input device and a location of one or more respective input and/or output elements associated with the input device;
• determining one or more characteristics of audio transmission between an input and/or output element and the microphone, wherein the characteristics include one or more of an attenuation, a resonance, or a change in frequency profile of audio associated with the input and/or output element, wherein the audio associated with the input and/or output element comprises audio created by the input and/or output element;
• and
• generating the transfer function in dependence upon the determined audio characteristics.

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium which stores computer software comprising computer executable instructions adapted to cause a computer system to perform a method for generating a transfer function indicating audio transmission characteristics of an input device associated with a processing device, by carrying out actions, comprising:

• determining one or more parameters of the input device, wherein the parameters include a location of a microphone associated with the input device and a location of one or more respective input and/or output element associated with the input device;
• determining one or more characteristics of audio transmission between an input and/or output element and the microphone, wherein the characteristics include one or more of an attenuation, a resonance, or a change in frequency profile of audio associated with the respective input and/or output element, wherein the audio associated with the input and/or output element comprises audio created by the input and/or output element;
• and
• generating the transfer function in dependence upon the determined audio characteristics.
