Data gathering for store fixtures and the products therein

A method of enlarging a section of an image, the section of the image displaying an item of interest, and the method comprising:

• (a) prompting a user of a mobile device to capture an image of a fixture containing a plurality of products, wherein one of said plurality of products is the item of interest, and the prompting being by way of a prompt displayed at a display interface of the mobile device;
• (b) responsive to the user opening a camera interface of the mobile device in response to the prompt and the user aiming the camera towards the fixture, displaying on the camera interface a frame positioned around the fixture;
• (c) detecting capabilities of the camera of the mobile device;
• (d) automatically adjusting a size of the frame displayed to the user based on the capabilities detected in (c);
• (e) instructing the user to adjust a position of the mobile device to thereby position and align an image of the fixture within the frame;
• (f) capturing the image of the fixture at the mobile device;
• (g) displaying the image on said display interface;
• (h) automatically analyzing the image, using an image recognition process at the mobile device, to identify the section of the image that contains the item of interest in said image;
• (i) automatically enlarging the section of the image to thereby product a second image, the second image being exclusively an image of the item of interest;
• and
• (j) displaying the second image on the display interface;
• (k) further comprising receiving, at the mobile device, a further image captured by the user, the further image being a closer image of the item of interest on the store fixture;
• and
• (l) further comprising comparing the second image and the further image to thereby verify that the item of interest was correctly captured in the second image and the further image.
