Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a software tool that facilitates the presentation of a three-dimensional view of a construction project as well as the generation of various types of two-dimensional technical drawings based on this three-dimensional view. In one implementation, the software tool causes a computing device to engage in the following operations. The computing device may receive a user input identifying at least one first mesh and at least one second mesh, determine portions of each identified mesh that intersect with a two-dimensional plane, and generate a two-dimensional drawing including a display of relevant dimensioning information based on the determined portions.
Claims20
A computing system comprising:
- at least one processor;
- a non-transitory computer-readable medium;
- and
- program instructions stored on the non-transitory computer-readable medium that are executable by the at least one processor to cause the computing system to:
- render a view of at least a portion of a construction project, wherein the view comprises a three-dimensional display of at least (i) a first element of the construction project and (ii) a second element of the construction project;
- receive a first input indicating a user's selection of the first element;
- receive a second input indicating a user's selection of the second element;
- and
- based at least on receiving the first input and receiving the second input, generate a drawing that depicts portions of the first element and portions of the second element that intersect with a two-dimensional plane.
A method comprising:
- rendering a view of at least a portion of a construction project, wherein the view comprises a three-dimensional display of at least (i) a first element of the construction project and (ii) a second element of the construction project;
- receiving a first input indicating a user's selection of the first element;
- receiving a second input indicating a user's selection of the second element;
- and
- based at least on receiving the first input and receiving the second input, generating a drawing that depicts portions of the first element and portions of the second element that intersect with a two-dimensional plane.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having program instructions stored thereon that are executable to cause a computing system to:
- render a view of at least a portion of a construction project, wherein the view comprises a three-dimensional display of at least (i) a first element of the construction project and (ii) a second element of the construction project;
- receive a first input indicating a user's selection of the first element;
- receive a second input indicating a user's selection of the second element;
- and
- based at least on receiving the first input and receiving the second input, generate a drawing that depicts portions of the first element and portions of the second element that intersect with a two-dimensional plane.
