Mountless querying of listing data

A system, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• a processing device operatively coupled to the memory, the processing device to:
• generate, prior to obtaining a query, a database based on an identifier for the database;
• obtain an indication that the database is to be shared within an organization;
• generate, based on the indication that the database is to be shared within the organization, an association between a universal listing identifier of the database and the database;
• obtain the query that includes the universal listing identifier of the database, wherein the universal listing identifier is different from the identifier for the database;
• activate, at runtime and based on the association, at least one role for accessing the database and shared objects based on the universal listing identifier;
• generate, based on the universal listing identifier, the at least one activated role, and the association, an in-memory placeholder object associated with the database;
• and
• provide access to data of the database based on the in-memory placeholder object and the query.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to:

• generate, prior to obtaining a query, a database based on an identifier for the database;
• obtain an indication that the database is to be shared within an organization;
• generate, based on the indication that the database is to be shared within the organization, an association between a universal listing identifier of the database and the database;
• obtain the query that includes the universal listing identifier of the database, wherein the universal listing identifier is different from the identifier for the database;
• activate, by the processing device, at runtime, and based on the association, at least one role for accessing the database and shared objects based on the universal listing identifier;
• generate, based on the universal listing identifier, the at least one activated role, and the association, an in-memory placeholder object associated with the database;
• and
• provide access to data of the database based on the in-memory placeholder object and the query.
