Synchronized schedule for staggered batch processing

A method comprising:

• obtaining a database transaction request indicating updates to a first record stored in a first database shard and a second record stored in a second database shard during a first synchronization of the second record, the first synchronization separating a first unlocked period of the second record from a second unlocked period of the second record, wherein the database transaction request is obtained during a first unlocked period of the first record;
• in response to obtaining the database transaction request during the first synchronization, selecting an effective unlocked period;
• updating the second record by updating an update sequence of the second record to indicate that a database transaction caused by the database transaction request occurred during the effective unlocked period;
• and
• synchronizing the first record during a second synchronization by updating an update sequence of the first record to indicate that the database transaction occurred during the effective unlocked period.

One or more non-transitory, machine-readable media storing program instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, perform operations comprising:

• during (i) an unlocked period of a first record stored in a first database shard and (ii) a first synchronization of a second record, stored in a second database shard, that occurred between a first recorded period of the second record and a second recorded period of the second record, obtaining a database transaction request indicating updates to the first record and the second record;
• based on the database transaction request being obtained during the first synchronization, selecting an effective recorded period;
• updating the second record by updating a second update sequence of the second record to indicate that a database transaction caused by the database transaction request occurred during the effective recorded period;
• and
• causing an update to the first record by causing an update to a first update sequence to indicate that the database transaction occurred during the effective recorded period.
