Abstract
A method of measuring trailer dimensions using a vehicle comprises generating measurement data by repeatedly measuring one or more dimensions of a trailer using a set of one or more sensors of the vehicle, evaluating the accuracy of the measurement data based on a view angle at which each measurement was captured by the vehicle, and determining a subset of the measurements based on their evaluated accuracy to represent the trailer dimensions.
Claims18
A method of measuring trailer dimensions using a vehicle, the method comprising:
- generating measurement data by repeatedly measuring one or more dimensions of a detected trailer using a set of one or more sensors of the vehicle, the measurement data comprising a plurality of measurement samples based on one or more sensor data streams at different view angles as the vehicle moves relative to the detected trailer;
- evaluating the accuracy of the measurement data by computing, for each measurement sample of the plurality of measurement samples, an angle data quality condition based on a view angle at which the each measurement sample was captured by the vehicle, the angle data quality condition representing a quality value associated with deviation of the view angle from a reference measurement angle;
- determining a dimension estimate by calculating a weighted mean of measurement values for the one or more dimensions, each measurement value being weighted by its corresponding angle data quality condition;
- and
- determining a subset of the measurements based on their evaluated accuracy to represent the trailer dimensions.
A control system or circuitry for a vehicle having an automated driving system or an advanced driver assistance system the control system or circuitry comprising:
- memory;
- one or more processors or processing circuitry;
- and
- computer-program code which, when loaded from memory and executed by the one or more processors or processing circuitry causes the control system to implement a method of measuring trailer dimensions using a vehicle, the method comprising:
- generating measurement data by repeatedly measuring one or more dimensions of a detected trailer using a set of one or more sensors of the vehicle, the measurement data comprising a plurality of measurement samples based on one or more sensor data streams at different view angles as the vehicle moves relative to the detected trailer;
- evaluating the accuracy of the measurement data by computing, for each measurement sample of the plurality of measurement samples, an angle data quality condition based on a view angle at which the each measurement sample was captured by the vehicle, the angle data quality condition representing a quality value associated with deviation of the view angle from a reference measurement angle;
- determining a dimension estimate by calculating a weighted mean of measurement values for the one or more dimensions, each measurement value being weighted by its corresponding angle data quality condition;
- and
- determining a subset of the measurements based on their evaluated accuracy to represent the trailer dimensions.
A non-transitory computer program product comprising computer-code which when loaded from memory and executed by one or more processors or processing circuitry of a control system or control circuitry of a vehicle having an automated driving system, causes the vehicle to implement a method of measuring trailer dimensions using a vehicle, the method comprising:
- generating measurement data by repeatedly measuring one or more dimensions of a detected trailer using a set of one or more sensors of the vehicle, the measurement data comprising a plurality of measurement samples based on one or more sensor data streams at different view angles as the vehicle moves relative to the detected trailer;
- evaluating the accuracy of the measurement data by computing, for each measurement sample of the plurality of measurement samples, an angle data quality condition based on a view angle at which the each measurement sample was captured by the vehicle, the angle data quality condition representing a quality value associated with deviation of the view angle from a reference measurement angle;
- determining a dimension estimate by calculating a weighted mean of measurement values for the one or more dimensions, each measurement value being weighted by its corresponding angle data quality condition;
- and
- determining a subset of the measurements based on their evaluated accuracy to represent the trailer dimensions.
