Abstract
A method for measuring the presence of SARS-CoV-2 or other respiratory pathogen in a person comprises collecting a sample of condensed exhaled breath from the person and measuring the presence of SARS-CoV-2 or other respiratory pathogen in said sample, thus providing a method for determining whether a person is capable of transmitting SARS-CoV-2 or other respiratory pathogen to other persons.
Claims8
A device for collecting exhaled breath condensate of a subject, comprising:
- a sample tube having a first end for receiving exhaled breath and a second end for exhaled breath to exit;
- a cooling sleeve for cooling the sample tube;
- a mouthpiece or nose mask adapted to communicate with the first end of the sample tube for directing exhaled breath into the sample tube;
- and
- a plunger to be inserted into the sample tube via the first end of the sample tube,
- wherein the plunger and the sample tube form an airtight connection such that when the plunger is pushed into the sample tube, the exhaled breath condensate inside the sample tube is removed from the sample tube via the second end of the sample tube.
