Abstract
The present invention relates to a recombinant microbial host cell producing a tetraketide or derivatives thereof from one or more substrates selected from cinnamoyl-CoA, p-Coumaroyl-CoA, Caffeoyl-CoA, Feruloyl-CoA, malonyl-CoA, sinapoyl-CoA and dihydro derivatives thereof, comprising an operative biosynthetic metabolic pathway for the tetraketide or derivatives thereof comprising a chalcone isomerase-like (CHIL) polypeptide heterologous to the host cell and a Type 3 polyketide synthase (PKS).
Claims19
A recombinant microbial host cell producing a naringenin from one or more substrates selected from cinnamoyl CoA and p-Coumaroyl-CoA, the recombinant microbial host cell further comprising an operative biosynthetic metabolic pathway for the naringenin comprising a chalcone isomerase-like (CHIL) polypeptide heterologous to the host cell, a chalcone isomerase (CHI) heterologous to the host cell, and a chalcone synthase (CHS) heterologous to the host cell,
- wherein the CHIL polypeptide has at least 80% identity to a CHIL polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 14, 16, 18, or 20, the CHI has at least 80% identity to the CHI of SEQ ID NO:12, and the CHS has at least 80% identity to the CHS of SEQ ID NO:
- 10, and wherein the recombinant microbial host cell produces more naringenin compared to an unmodified microbial host cell.
