Abstract
A method for manufacturing alpha-methylstyrene includes dehydrogenating cumene in a reactor under a catalyst to manufacture alpha-methylstyrene, wherein one or more of nitrogen (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are added during the dehydrogenation reaction of cumene, and wherein the catalyst comprises a carrier, and a metal nitride-based catalyst component supported on the carrier.

A method for manufacturing alpha-methylstyrene, the method comprising:
- dehydrogenating cumene in a reactor under a catalyst to manufacture alpha-methylstyrene,
- wherein one or more of nitrogen (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are added during the dehydrogenation reaction of cumene,
- wherein the catalyst comprises a carrier;
- and a metal nitride-based catalyst component supported on the carrier, and
- wherein the metal nitride-based catalyst component comprises Mo2N.
